Restriction Exhibition

‘Restriction’ is an exhibition of miniature pieces of art work inspired by restrictions of the pandemic.

Hosted by Clayhill Arts, this exhibition by the newly formed artist network The Correspondence Collective, is displayed in a set of old printer’s letterpress drawers, with the drawers’ tiny compartments providing a stimulus for the exhibiting artists.

Inspired by the restrictions many of us have experienced due to Covid-19, more than 200 artists, from across the world, have produced work for the show, resulting in over 1000 pieces of miniature artworks.

The exhibition was launched online by Clayhill Arts on Tuesday 23 March, a year on from the start of the first UK lockdown.

You can view a recording of the launch event below, where we were in conversation with the exhibition’s curator, Amanda Lynch who we have been communicating with via Zoom since the exhibition conception in July 2020.

After the launch event, the exhibition will be archived online, along with the production of an exhibition catalogue, soon to be available from The Correspondence Collective website.

From 25th March – 6th April there are a series of Artist Talks taking place and following that a number of Workshops and networking events are planned for the collective. All of these events are free to attend and have been kindly supported by Arts Council England.

This is very special exhibition and important document of our time in restriction over the past 12 months. It feels a real honour and privilege to be showcasing this, and all of the work made for the show will be archived here at Clayhill Arts as a record of work created about this unusual time.
